Complain for Change
The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman is a free and independent service, set up by Parliament. We investigate complaints that individuals have been treated unfairly or have received poor service from government departments, public organisations and the NHS in England. We make final decisions on complaints about these public services for individuals and we use what we learn from complaints to help improve public services.
The first stage of our awareness campaign, Complain for Change, is targeted at people with a learning disability and their families, friends and carers. It encourages them to complain to the NHS if they have received poor care. In addition to raising awareness of our services and access to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, we also want to improve the way we communicate with people with learning disabilities.
As part of the campaign, we released a short animated video encouraging people to complain if they’ve received poor service from the NHS. In addition to this we produced a suite of posters and leaflets with tips on complaining in Easy Read and standard formats.
